Cornflower Description: Centaurea cyanus, commonly known as cornflower or bachelor's button, is an annual flowering plant in the family Asteraceae. The active flavonoids contained in Cornflower extracts are mainly Rutaceae and anthocyanins, which have potent anti-inflammatory effects. In cosmetics, it is mainly used for anti-inflammatory, and as astringent skin conditioners and free radical scavenger. The floral water can be used as a natural skin cleanser and hair conditioner. And in Turkey folk, the aerial part and flowers of Centaurea are used for stomach ulcers while the Egyptians use it to lower blood sugar, help digestion and as a diuretic. What’s more, in Spain the aerial part is used as a decontaminating agent and cholagogue. And In China, Centaurea is used to reduce fever and detoxify, relieve rheumatic pain, help digestion,and so on.
