Description: Lophatherum is a genus of Asian and Australian plants in the grass family. It is mainly distributed in Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Jiangxi, Anhui, Sichuan, Hubei, Fujian, Guangdong. The chemical composition of Phyllostachys glauca leaves is flavonoids, terpenoids, and volatile oils, triterpenes, polysaccharide, phenolic acids, amino acids, with high biological activity. The functional ingredients are flavone glycoside and coumarin lactone, which content and biological activity are comparable with Ginkgo biloba. Modern pharmacology proved that Lophatheri can help antipyretic, diuretic, antibacterial, antioxidant and hypolipidemic etc. It is also used as a health food raw material.

In addition, the dried rhizome and root of Lophatheri are also applied in Traditional Chinese medicine.
