Description: Canavalia gladiata, usually called sword bean, is a domesticated plant species in the legume (Fabaceae) family. The legume is a used as a vegetable. Pod-shaped, slightly curved, about 20-35 cm in length, 4-6 cm in width. The seed is oval or oblong, about 3.5 cm long, 2 cm wide, and 1.5 cm thick, in red or brown. Harvest in autumn. Ripe seeds can be boiled or used as medicine, which is a typical medicinal and edible plant.
